EIHS Calls for A National Day of Respect

Congressman Suozzi (D-NY)

Under the leadership of Chairman Nasser J. Kazeminy, one of the significant initiatives recently championed by the Ellis Island Honor Society is the introduction of a Day of Respect bill to the United States Congress. The Day of Respect aims to promote understanding, tolerance, and unity among Americans, transcending cultural, ethnic, and religious differences. The proposed bill seeks to designate a national day, September 17th, dedicated to these values, encouraging individuals and communities to reflect on the importance of mutual respect and the positive impact it has on society.

Chairman Nasser J. Kazeminy~

“The Fourth of July is not just a celebration of our past; it’s a reaffirmation of the values that define our future—a future bright and promising, thanks to the new ideas and perspectives immigrants bring.”

The 2023 Ellis Island Medals of Honor

The Ellis Island Honors Society honors the importance of immigration to America’s prosperity and celebrates the contributions immigrants and their progeny have made to our nation.

In 1986, Ellis Island Honors Society founded the Ellis Island Medals of Honor to commemorate the indefatigable spirit of those who immigrated to the United States during the Ellis Island era.

The Medal is presented annually to those who have shown an outstanding commitment to serving our nation either professionally, culturally or civically, among other criteria.
